Telemedicine Society of India (TSMI), Karnataka Chapter which was founded early this year is now organising its inaugural conclave on ‘Impact & Trends in Telemedicine 2015’, in association with PeopleHealth India and Teleradiology Solutions on September 12, 2015. The event will be held at the Teleradiology Solutions campus in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

The conclave will bring together doctors from across Karnataka including medical directors, hospital owners, CXOs, and engineers associated with healthcare technology. The conclave according to the organisers will provide a platform to exchange views on various aspects of telemedicine in India covering technology, practice, legal issues, and business models. Karnataka minister of health and family welfare, UT Khader, will inaugurate the event.

Dr. Sunita Maheshwari, president, Telemedicine Society of India - Karnataka Chapter and founder of Teleradiology Solutions said, “When it comes to any health issue, time is of utmost importance. Timely medical intervention, diagnosis or treatment is the only thing that can cure illnesses and save lives. Telemedicine bridges this gap.” “TSI, Karnataka aims to educate people across the state on the advantages of telemedicine and how it will bring the much needed change in the healthcare sector in the coming years.”

“Telemedicine has been attempted in bits and pieces over the past decade in India. This patchwork and pilot approach did not really get the desired benefits for rural India where access to doctor is still a challenge. A large government initiative like SEHAT (Social Endeavour for Health And Telemedicine) can hopefully impact many lives. It would be ideal if government can rope in as many service providers as possible so the impact created is larger. At the end of the day how good the implementation will determine its real impact,” she added.

The conclave aims to create awareness about telemedicine in healthcare delivery and establish the fact that it is not just for regions with limited medical access but is also an important tool to expedite process in developed cities. Medical practitioners will showcase the latest technologies to deliver quicker, efficient and cheaper healthcare to all,.

According to Dr Sanjay Sharma, secretary, Telemedicine Society of India, Karnataka Chapter the state has in recent times witnessed considerable development in this field. Through this initiative, we urge the practitioners to come, share their experience and knowledge.”

Telemedicine Society of India which was formed in 2001 has organised 11 international conferences.
